You’ve got several ways you can learn the blues from home thanks to both online and dvd blues guitar instruction. While no one will argue that private blues guitar lessons are probably the best form of blues guitar instruction you can get these interactive multimedia video formats are a very close second.
There have been a couple of really good blues guitar dvd courses released over the past year or so. One that I own and have been using is Legacy Learning Systems, Learn and Master Blues Guitar. This 6 Disc course focuses on taking beginner guitar players through a series of video lessons and teach you to become a well rounded blues guitarist.
The course is taught by Steve Krenz, who is also the author and instructor of Legacy Learning Systems award winning guitar course Learn and Master Guitar. Steve is a professional teacher and instructor and is one of the best video teachers I’ve come across in the past couple of years.
Their blues guitar instruction includes DVD video lessons, work shops and jam along videos. As well as a Jam Along audio disc and detailed workbook. This course is to the point and easy to follow.
If you want to learn the blues this course will teach you, you just need to add the practice. Time.
Another form of self study guitar lesson I’ve been using this year is online videos. I’ve been a member over at JamPlay for a few months this year and went through their beginner blues guitar instruction series.
Their video quality was top notch and I liked the instructor. How ever I enjoyed being able to watch lessons on my home DVD player rather then on my computer, but that’s a personal preference thing.
A great feature about JamPlay is that there is over 430 hours of lesson content in there. Once you’ve gone through some of their blues lessons there may be some other topics that your interested in learning as well.
They also provide some nice practice tools including jam tracks you can play along with.
It really is a preference thing. I enjoyed the DVD blues lessons more, and I believe if you’re serious about becoming a well rounded blues guitarist then you’ll spend less money in the long run with the DVDs Vs the online blues guitar instruction since online lessons are a month fee.
